Road trip for Samara Barend (NY 29)
Mon Nov 01, 2004 at 08:46:53 AM PDT
Just got back late last night from
NY-29, where a group of us spent the weekend doing GOTV for
Samara Barend. We had an amazing weekend topped off with a GREAT visit from Sam. And guess what? She loves Daily Kos!
As you all know, Sam Barend is a member of the DKos Dozen who is running for the open seat in NY-29 (formerly held by a moderate R-Amo Houghton). Her opponent is "Shotgun Senator" Randy Kuhl, who had represented part of this district in the NY State Senate for over 20 years.
Delay's Getting Nervous!

A
Democracy for Texas planned protest causes the
all powerful Tom Delay to switch up his schedule.
"U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay outfoxed local Democrats who'd been planning to protest his appearance at a Monday fundraiser in downtown Austin."
Stems Cells & Ataxia

Today is a special day for me. It is my chance to tell the rest of the world about a terrible disease that has debilitated my mother - she suffers from a rare neurological disease called
Ataxia. Since September 25th marks the Annual International Ataxia Awareness Day, I thought it was appropriate to provide information about my mother's condition.
Women, Politics, and Blogs

First time Diarist here, so please be gentle!
I have noticed some posts over the past few weeks about the demographics of the blogsphere. Several noted the gender imbalance in blog readership, which got me thinking.
Since a big goal of the Dems is to make Nancy Pelosi Leader of the House, it seems like there should be a strong liberal female voice out there giving support to womens issues (and Nancy!). But I haven't heard about any blogs that do this. Am I living in a cave?
So a question for the DKos community: Do you know of any female bloggers or women oriented blogs that would you recommend for those of us who want that perspective?
